Hope Astronaut

Indie | Folk-Rock | Acoustic
Hope Astronaut are a band founded in 2009 and based in Olomouc, Czech Republic. The band’s name was inspired by an old photo of its frontman as a baby, crumpling a pompom next to a toy – an inflatable astronaut.
They recorded their first EP, “In Liverpool”, in the English city of the same name together with the Finnish producer Tuomas Hakkarainen, a member of Kaspar. In 2011, the band released their debut album, “Songs for Mirrors”, accompanied by the single Anyone Can Shine, a successful addition to Radio Wave’s Startér show. The second album, “Someone’s Missing”, mixed once again by Tuomas Hakkarainen, followed two years later. Hope Astronaut’s third album, “Balance in the Heights” (2018) contains eight songs the band recorded with the producer Tomáš Neuwerth (Kafka Band, Kittchen, Zvíře jménem Podzim).
During their career, Hope Astronaut played numerous Czech festivals (Colours of Ostrava, Fiesta, Letní Letná, Olomoucký majáles UP), supported international musicians like Bee and Flower (USA) and David Kitt (IRL), and recorded a Balcony TV Prague session. The band’s frontman Tomáš Krejčiřík played solo at Live Mic Weekender in Ireland and at The Scratcher Sessions in New York, and he also performed one song at Damien Rice’s concert in Prague in 2012.
